Minnie's Birthday...:)

Minnie became 17 on December 11...:) I still can't believe that my little girl is so big already...:) Sadly her birthday happened on a working day /Wednesday/, so she was in Sofia and the rest of us - in Plovdiv... It's the first time I wasn't with her on her birthday, so needless to say, this made me feel a bit sad as well...
Still, Minnie had had a lovely birthday - she had brought a box of chocolates to school as a treat for her classmates and teachers and in the evening her grandmother and uncle /who were staying with her in Sofia then/ had taken her out for a coffee and a cake...:) Minnie had also celebrated with her best friends - both in Sofia and in Plovdiv - the following few days...:) And when she came home for the weekend, she celebrated with us as well - we had special dinner on Saturday, followed by a delicious chocolate mousse ice cream cake...:)
Of course, Minnie got some presents - very sweet and thoughtful gifts from her friends and money from her relatives /which will most probably be spent for clothes and books:)/...:)
The day after Minnie's birthday she found out that she had received 90% at her German A2 exam...:) Needless to say, we are all very proud of her for doing so well again!:)

Quiet days...

Besides the week that I spent in Sofia with Minnie /November 18th - 22nd/ nothing interesting happened last month...

By the end of November  I saw one more movie - 'Elysium', but sadly it was nothing special...

In November I also finished reading /on my phone/ 'Fifty Shades of Grey' by E.L.James. It turned out to be such a lame book - I didn't find it neither shocking, nor thrilling, nor exciting...:( Luckily it was easy to read, so I finished it quite quickly...:). The book I started next is the third one of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series by George R.R. Martin - 'A Storm of Swords'...:) I'm still at the beginning but it has started out great, so I'm sure it will be just as interesting as the previous two books of the series...:)

Minnie's name day and some other news...:)

After writing my previous post here I was in Sofia with Minnie for a week /October 21 - 25/, because my in-laws needed to stay in Karlovo for a while… I didn’t mind it at all, because I love spending time with my daughter and when she was at school I could relax, read books, write letters, etc…:)

I saw only one more movie by the end of October - ‘White House Down’ /lots of excitement, great action scenes, some dark humour and Channing Tatum - the perfect combination:)/.

November has been another quiet month so far... November 1 was a day off for students, so both children had a 3-day weekend, lucky them!:)

I was on duty the first week of November, so I was quite busy and it felt great...:)

Minnie's name day was on November 11. It happened on a Monday, so she celebrated it only with my in-laws who were in Sofia with her... Of course, she had brought a box of chocolates to school as a treat for her classmates and teachers...:) We had a special lunch for Minnie's name day the Saturday that followed so we had a celebration together after all, even though a bit late...;) Minnie got some money from her grandparents for her name day - the perfect gift for a teen...:)

I'm with Minnie in Sofia this week again... And just like last month I'm trying to relax as much as I can while she's at school...:)

So far this month I've seen only two movies - 'RED 2' /not as interesting nor witty as the first movie, but still fun...:)/ and 'The Wolverine' /as always, I greatly enjoyed watching my most favourite supernatural character - the Wolverine... The movie was full of excitement, special effects, battle scenes and some dark humour - I loved it!:)/.

In the beginning of November I finished reading /on my phone/ the second book of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series - 'A Clash of Kings'. I loved it just as much as 'Game of Thrones' and I can't wait to read the next book of the series...:) But before that I started reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey' by E.L.James.

So far, so good...:)

Yes, the new chapter of my life is going really well, knock on wood...:) Hubby is back to his previous job in Plovdiv since October 1...:) My mother-in-law and brother-in-law are staying with Minnie since then but of course she's coming home every weekend...:)

Teddy /the puppy/ is staying with us too /since the last weekend of September/ and we're really happy to have her here as she is so sweet and loveable!:)

Vanyo's plaster was taken off on October 2...:) It was actually a little earlier than we expected, so it was a very nice surprise for us all!:)

Vanyo went for a school trip today /to a very beautiful town, called Stara Zagora/ and I'm sure he'll have lots of fun with his friends!:) Can't wait to hear all about it when he returns in the afternoon!:)

Today is a Friday, so Minnie will be home for the weekend /her train arrives at 6 p.m./!:) Needless to say, we're all very happy about it!:)

Other than that, October has been a quiet month so far...:) Of course, we saw some movies: 'Abduction' /nothing special, but not too bad either/, 'World War Z' /not a bad movie, actually, but once again I realized zombies are just not my thing...:(/ and 'After Earth' /total disappointment:(/.

A new chapter...:)

The three-day weekend in the beginning of September was wonderful...:) We enjoyed our time home to the fullest and of course saw some movies: 'R.I.P.D.' /very silly:(/, 'Iron Man 3' /I'm not a fan of Iron Man, to be honest, so I didn't have any high expectations... And therefore I wasn't disappointed much...:)/ and 'A Walk to Remember' /a very nice and touching movie.../.

When the weekend was over, hubby and I left Minnie and Vanyo in Karlovo with my in-laws and drove to Sofia as we both had to work and the children still had a week of holidays... Sadly my mother-in-law called us on Monday night /September 9/ to tell us that Vanyo had fallen off his roller blades and had broken his left arm...:( All of us met in Plovdiv and spent most of the night at the emergency...:( It turned out that the bone was not only broken, but dislocated at well, so they had to set it right and then they put plaster on Vanyo's arm... What a terrible ending of my son's summer holidays...:( Luckily it seems that Vanyo's arm heals well and hopefully the plaster will be removed in 2-3 weeks...:)

The weekend that followed was quite uneventful... Still we saw two movies: 'Beautiful Creatures' /very sweet movie... Turned out much better than I expected!:)/ and 'The Dark Knight Rises' /I liked it much more than 'The Dark Knight'... It was great to see Tom Hardy playing the bad guy!:)/.

When the weekend was over, hubby and Minnie drove to Sofia and Vanyo and me remained in Plovdiv. Yes, after a lot of thinking we have decided that it's time to get back to Plovdiv!:) I still can't believe that it's really happening!!!:)

On September 16 /Monday/ both children started school. Vanyo started 3rd grade in the same school where his sister used to study and even his class teacher is the same /something we're all very happy about as she is a great person:)/!:) He really likes his new school, classmates and teachers and he is very happy to be back to Plovdiv!:) Of course, he misses his friends from Sofia, but he is keeping in touch with them as much as possible...

Minnie is in 11th grade now. This is the first year of the lyceum level of her education... At the lyceum level the students choose a profile. Minnie has chosen 'Latin with Italian', so besides Bulgarian, English, Latin, Ancient Greek and Ancient Bulgarian she will study one more language this school year - Italian!:) She will also continue with her German language course /A2/, so she won't be bored!:)

I'm back to being self-employed again. I've rented a very nice office at the same building where my previous office was /before I moved to Sofia in July 2011/. It consists of two rooms and I'm sharing it with my friend Vanya, who is an accountant...:) I hope we'll both be very busy there and will have lots of clients!:)

Hubby is still in Sofia, but hopefully next month he'll return to Plovdiv too... My in-laws will stay in Sofia with Minnie then but we have agreed that I'll stay with her every once in a while too...:) Anyway, I hope the new chapter of our lives will be a good one and we'll all be happy and satisfied with the new situation!:) Fingers crossed!:)

My summer holidays...:)

I had my summer holidays from August 17 until yesterday, September 2...:) But before that I enjoyed a long weekend as my super nice boss allowed me to take my birthday off and it happened on a Monday this year... Lucky me!:)

As always, I didn't have a big celebration for my birthday /August 12/... The day before my birthday we visited my parents at their holiday house and had a really nice time there!:) We had BBQ and ate lots of fresh vegetables and fruit!:)

Then, at home, a few minutes before midnight /and before my BD/ hubby said he was going out to buy some cigarettes and came back with a box of yummy truffle chocolates for me!:) What a -literally- sweet surprise!:)
My birthday was super nice, many friends and relatives called to wish me a happy birthday, which really made me very, very happy!:)
Unfortunately hubby and I had some boring but unavoidable errands to run during the working hours of the day, but still we managed to sit at a cafe in between, just the two of us, and it felt great!:)
We had a yummy lunch at home. I suggested to hubby and the kids that instead of making a cake /which they always do for me/ we could go out for some ice cream for a change...:) And, needless to say, they agreed!:)

In the evening we drove to Sofia and had dinner at a park close to our new place - duner and pizza!:) Not healthy at all, I know, but so yummy!:)
And when I got online the following day, I was deeply touched to find so many messages and Facebook posts!:) Once again I realized how lucky I am to have such wonderful people caring about me!:)

During the long weekend for my birthday we saw some movies - 'Oblivion' /it started well, but soon became quite boring and predictable...:( Great special effects, though!:)/, 'Olympus Has Fallen' /I loved it and not only because of Gerard Butler...:) It was full of excitement and breath-taking scenes!:) Comparing it to 'Die Hard' is not an exaggeration!:) I could perfectly go without the speech of the president at the end, though...;)/, 'Epic' /I'm not much of a cartoon fan, but this movie was actually pretty good!:)/ and 'The Hangover Part III' /Just as silly as the previous 'Hangover'... I wonder why do they keep making them... And what's more important - why do I keep watching them...:(/...

On August 17 we drove to the Black Sea coast and stayed there for 8 days...:) This time we were in Nessebar which is a little town, full of history...:) The atmosphere is very special there and we liked it much more than Kiten...:)

We used to go to the beach every day and in the evenings we used to walk along the beautiful streets of the Old Part of Nessebar...:) It was such a relaxing time, all of us enjoyed it to the fullest!:)

After our holidays in Nessebar we found out that Minnie's result at her A1 exam in German is 99%, can you believe it?!:) Needless to say, we're all very, very proud of her and we hope she'll continue just as well at her A2 level!:)

The second week of my holidays we spent in Plovdiv...:) It was even more relaxing!:) Of course, we saw some movies: 'The Big Wedding' /total disappointment...:( So many great actors and such a boring movie...:(/, 'The Great Gatsby' /I simply loved this movie - the story, the actors, the atmosphere...:) It touched me deeply and kept me thinking long after it was over... I should definitely read the book some day!:)/ and 'The Help' /one of the best movies I've seen lately!:) It made me laugh and cry /sometimes even at the same time/...:) I should definitely see it again!:) Two thumbs up!:)/.

In August we also saw the final season of 'Desperate Housewives' /I postponed it for a whole year, because I knew I would be sad when it's over.../... I'm definitely going to miss this incredible TV show and those wonderful women... We also saw the 9th season of 'Grey's Anatomy' and I just can't wait for the 10th to start!:)

Just before the end of my summer holidays we drove to Karlovo and left the children there with my in-laws... Hubby should be back to work next week, but he decided to stay in Sofia with me so that I won't feel lonely, so sweet of him!:) Luckily this is a short working week as Friday is an official holiday so as soon as I finish work on Thursday we'll pick the children up and will spend the long weekend at home, in Plovdiv!:)

A wedding anniversary, a new place in Sofia and some movie update...:)

After my previous post Vanyo spent a week with my parents at their house in the village near Plovdiv and when we picked him up for the weekend, he told us that he had had a great time there!:) Now he is in Karlovo with my in-laws, but we're taking him with us to Plovdiv every weekend!:)

Hubby and I celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary on July 22. We didn't do anything huge, just a special dinner at home and afterwards went for an ice-cream... Still it was nice!:) And on the Saturday that followed, we took the children to one of our favourite restaurants - 'Verdi'...:) We had a wonderful time there as always, enjoying the yummy food and our time together to the fullest!:)

Last weekend was super busy as we moved to a new place in Sofia... It's much more comfortable than the previous flat we rented, in a good neighbourhood and right next to the tube station!:) I like it a lot!:) The owners seem super nice too, which is always a huge plus!:)

I saw three more movies by the end of July - 'G.I.Joe: Retaliation' /lots of breath-taking action scenes... Plus Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum in the same movie - what else can a girl want?:)/, 'Redemption'/'Hummingbird' /to be honest, I think that the only special thing about this movie was the Bulgarian folk music in the soundtrack... And seeing Jason Statham acting in it, of course!;)/ and 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' /I loved the ending of the story as it was full of excitement and very, very touching at the same time...:)/.

So far I've seen two movies this month - 'A Good Day to Die Hard' /actually I'm a 'Die Hard' fan but this sequel was totally disappointing...:( I missed so much the dark humour and suspense of the previous movies...:(/ and 'Fast & Furious 6' /wonderful movie - exciting, full of breath-taking scenes and dark humour...:) And there are Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in it - the perfect combination:)/.

Some nice news and a fire experience...:)

The last week of June was full of positive emotions...:) First, on June 25 /Tuesday/ we found out that Minnie had become first at the last /third/ part of the Ancient Languages Competition as well!:) Needless to say, we were all super proud of her!:)

Then, on June 28 /Friday/ Minnie finished school... And as always she got the best possible mark - 'excellent' 6 for all of her 10 grade subjects - Bulgarian Language and Literature, English, Latin, Ancient Greek, Ancient Bulgarian, History, Culture, Psychology, Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Sports. 10 grade is considered the most difficult year in Minnie's school, so we're all happy that she did so well!:)

And finally, on June 29 /Saturday/, Vanyo /who was staying with us in Sofia that week/ went to the birthday party of his best friend Neda...:) He told us he had had a wonderful time there and Neda has finally agreed to become his girlfriend...:)

That last week of June was good for reading too - I read 'Letters for Claudia' by Jorge Bucay. It was a bit more in-depth and serious than the other books I've read by him, but still a nice read... The children and I also finally finished reading 'The Black Arrow' by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was full of adventures and history, but we were a little bit disappointed with the way it was written... Maybe it was due to bad translation, though...

Vanyo is spending the first two weeks of July in Karlovo with my in-laws and he is enjoying his time there to the fullest...:) We took him with us to Plovdiv last weekend and will do the same today after hubby and I finish work...:) I'm counting the hours!:)

Minnie is on holidays already, but she is still in Sofia with us because her German course continues... But she really enjoys learning German, so staying in Sofia is not a problem for her...:)

We had a really exciting experience early in the morning of July 2 /Tuesday/... We heard someone knocking at our door at 4.30. It was a neighbour who informed us that there was a fire in the building...:( We didn't see any flames, but there was a lot of smoke and I was quite scared, to be honest...:( There wasn't any electricity, so getting dressed in the dark also added to my stress...:( We went outside, and within an hour the fire was extinguished, the electricity system /which had caused the fire/ was secured and we could finally go home... Needless to say, I had a hard time falling asleep afterwards...:( Luckily no one was injured and there wasn't much damage... By the evening we had our electricity back as well, so everything was fine in the end...:)

Last weekend was very nice...:) On the Saturday /July 6/ we went to Starnitza /the village in the Rhodope Mountains where we own a house/. We had yummy lunch at one of our favourite places - The Blue Inn /the building on the picture/. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed our time at the beautiful nature so much!:)

We also saw three movies that weekend - 'Jack Reacher' /nothing special/, 'StreetDance 2' /not as good as the first 'Street Dance' movie but still fun!:)/ and the German movie 'Kokowaah' /it was wonderful - sweet, funny, touching - I loved it!:) Highly recommended!:)/.

This week I finally finished reading 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. It took me a long time to read this book, but I enjoyed it to the fullest!:) I liked it much more than 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' as I found it somehow deeper, more exciting and touching...

Easter, Vanyo's 9th Birthday and some other May and June news...:)

I haven't posted here in ages... Such a shame, I know!:( But my life has been super busy and hectic in the last couple of weeks... Hopefully there's a calmer period in front of me, because I really need it!:)

Our Easter holidays were very nice.:) We spent the first couple of days at home, simply relaxing as much as we could...:) Then we drove to Karlovo to celebrate Easter /May 5/ with my in-laws and enjoyed some really delicious traditional food...:) The children had lots of fun with the 'egg-fight' as always too...:)

Vanyo's 9th birthday /May 6/ happened on the last day of the Easter holidays. We celebrated it in Karlovo. My parents came too with my elder niece Amalia-Maria /who was visiting for Easter/.:) We had a very nice time together...:) The food was delicious - fresh Easter salad, roasted lamb with drob-sarma, and chocolate cake...:) Of course, Vanyo got some presents - a new PSP game from my parents, some books and a chess game from my sister and her family /who were represented by my niece:)/, some money from my in-laws and a Lego set from Vlado, Minnie and me... Needless to say, Vanyo was super excited the whole day!:)))

The following day Vanyo brought two boxes of chocolates to school as a treat for his classmates and on May 17 /Friday/ he invited some friends to his birthday party, which took place at KFC...:) The children had lots of fun, Vanyo got heaps of presents and - most importantly - he felt super special and loved!:))) Just as he deserves!:)))

That Saturday /May 18/ was a working day because of the extra day off during the Easter holidays /May 2/. I was at the office until about noon and so was hubby. As soon as we both finished work, we drove to Plovdiv for the rest of the weekend...:) The Night of the Museums took place then, so we wanted to attend... Sadly we couldn't visit the Archeology Museum because the queue in front of it was too long, but we visited the History Museum and an art gallery instead... But most of all we enjoyed our stroll along the main street of Plovdiv /which is only for pedestrians/ and the time we spent at one of the numerous cafes there...:)

Minnie started attending a German language course /A1/ since May 21... Looks like all the languages my daughter studies at school are simply not enough for her, so she needs more...:) She really enjoys studying German so far and it seems that she is making a good progress in it!:)))

May 24 is an official holiday here /Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture/, so we had another long weekend then /three days/...:) On May 24 we went to the parade of the Plovdiv schools as we did last year...:) Minnie was happy to meet some ex-classmates and ex-teachers...:)

After the parade we went to a village close to Plovdiv, where some relatives of my hubby had invited us for BBQ...:) We had a very nice time together and it was great to catch up with them all!:)

The following day we visited my parents for lunch /more yummy food, yay...:)/, then went for a walk at the Old Part of Plovdiv and sat at a cafe next to the Antique Theatre...:)

The last day of the long weekend we visited my in-laws in Karlovo...:) There was more yummy food, of course, and we played with Teddy /the puppy/, so everyone was happy!:)

My children made me super proud in the last week of May...:) On May 30 we found out that Minnie was first among all the 10 graders at the second part of the Ancient Languages Competition and had continued to the third part!:))) I'm sure she has done just as great there too!:)))

And the following day, May 31, Vanyo finished 2nd grade...:) He has excellent '6' /the best mark in Bulgaria/ for all of his subjects - Bulgarian Language and Literature, Maths, English, Surrounding World, Music, Arts, Sports, Domestic Ways of Life and Techniques, Compulsory Chosen Subject Bulgarian and Compulsory Chosen Subject Maths...:) Looks like he'll be a good student just like his sister!:) He also got a certificate for his chess lessons, which made him super proud!:)

We saw some movies in May - 'Taken 2' /sadly not as exciting as the first movie, but still good...:)/, 'Rock of Ages' /I loved everything - the atmosphere, the music, the humour, the actors!:) Especially Tom Cruise was amazing!:)))/, 'Source Code' /very exciting and touching movie, I liked it a lot!:)))/, 'Silver Linings Playbook' /it took me a while to get into the story and the characters, but once this happened, I enjoyed it all to the fullest!:) Such a beautiful and touching movie!:))) And the acting is great too!:)))/ and 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' /very entertaining:)/.

Also in May we saw the last episodes of the TV show 'Spartacus'... It was so sad to say 'good-bye' to Gannicus and all the other characters in the show...:(

As Vanyo started his summer holidays in the beginning of June, we drove him to Karlovo, where he spent two wonderful weeks with his granny, his uncle and the puppy...:) Of course, he was with us during the weekends /we used to pick him up on our way to Plovdiv and then leave him on our way back to Sofia/...:) Then Vanyo spent a week in Plovdiv with my parents and now he is in Sofia with us...:) So far he is enjoying his summer holidays to the fullest, lucky boy!:)))

We haven't seen any movies so far this month, such a shame!:( But we saw the last episodes of the third season of 'Game of Thrones' and now we just can't wait for the next season...:)

However, I've been in the mood for reading, so finished three books this month...:) Here is the list: 'Let Me Tell You' /some of the stories I've heard before, some of them were totally new to me, some I liked a lot, some - not that much... But all in all, it was a nice and easy read.../, 'To Love with Eyes Wide Open' /I liked its idea and found it an easy and entertaining read/ and 'Stories to Think About' /another nice and easy read.../. All these books were written by Jorge Bucay, but the second one has a co-author as well /Silvia Salinas/. Hopefully my great reading mood will continue throughout the whole summer...:) Fingers crossed!:)

Minnie's school practice and some other news...:)

I saw one more movie after writing my previous post - 'Immortals' /such a disappointment...:(/ so that makes three movies for March... Not much at all...:(

As I mentioned in my previous post, Minnie had a school practice in Greece from March 30 until April 8 /10 days:)/. She absolutely loved Greece and came home full of stories, wisdom, pictures and souvenirs!:) Minnie had even met my dear friend Christine who lives in Athens and they both told me they had had a wonderful time together!:) And look at the gifts Minnie got from Christine - priceless!:))) Being the good girl that she is, she even brought four of the chocolates home, and I can assure you they were super yummy!:)))

Vanyo had a wonderful time in Karlovo during his spring holidays too and got totally spoilt, just as I expected!:)

The week after the spring holidays was very busy, but in a nice way...:) Vanyo attended two birthday parties of his classmates /one on April 10 and one on April 14/ and on April 13 the four of us attended the wedding anniversary party of our friends Vanya and Dobri /where we had a wonderful time as always:)/...

I saw only one movie this month - 'The Hangover Part II' /very silly...:(/... It's a pity I've seen so little, but ever since the third season of 'Game of Thrones' has started, we haven't missed an episode...:)  Hopefully I'll be able to watch more movies in May, though...:)

Today is my last day at work and I'll be off for six days, a real mini vacation...:) May 1 is an official holiday here /Labour Day/ and as the Orthodox Easter will be on May 5, we'll have May 3 /Good Friday/ off as well... And May 6 is another day off because it's both the second day of Easter and Saint George Day /another official holiday here/... So all in all, there is only one working day this week /May 2/ which the government gave off too and we'll need to work one Saturday /May 18/ instead... Needless to say, I'm looking forward to those days off and I'll do my best to enjoy them to the fullest with my dear family!:)

Baba Marta, Women's Day, a parent-teacher meeting, a competition and some other news...:)

I saw only one more movie by the end of February - 'Snow White and the Huntsman' /such a disappointment:(/.

March has been a quiet month so far... We celebrated 'Baba Marta' on March 1st which is one of my favourite Bulgarian traditions!:) I just love 'marthenitza's and what they symbolize so much!:)

March 8th was Women's Day and as always I was spoilt by my dear family!:) I got lots of handmade gifts from Vanyo, flowers from Minnie and a box of chocolates from hubby!:) Hubby also bought me a lovely black dress and I can't wait to start wearing it /it needs to get warmer first/...:)

There was a parent-teacher meeting at Minnie's school earlier this week /March 27th/ and as always all the teachers were super pleased with my daughter!:) Needless to say, I was very, very proud of her!:)

And yesterday Minnie told us that she is first among the 10 graders at the Ancient Languages Competition - she got 97 points out of 100 in Ancient Greek and 95 out of 100 in Latin!:) Amazing!:))) I hope she'll do just as well at the second part of the competition!:) Fingers crossed!:)

Both children are on spring holidays starting from today and should be back to school on April 8th. Minnie will leave for her school practice to Greece tomorrow morning, lucky girl!:) Vanyo and Teddy /the puppy, who has been staying with us since February 22nd/ will spend the holidays in Karlovo with my in-laws and I bet they'll both get totally spoilt there!:) Only hubby and I need to work, poor us... But I'm sure we'll enjoy our time as a couple as well!:)

I have seen only two movies so far in March - 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' /maybe not as brilliant as Lord of the Rings, but still fun to watch!:)))/ and 'The Vow' /maybe not the best romantic movie, but still nice and sweet!:)))/. Hopefully I'll be able to see more movies next month!:)

February has been a very quiet month so far… My mum’s birthday was on February 11th and as it was on a week day, we couldn’t visit her… But I had a case in Plovdiv the following day /what a great coincidence:)/, so I arrived there the previous evening and could greet my mum for her special day in person!:) Needless to say, she was very happy and touched!:) I enjoyed the time with my parents, the yummy food and the good red wine to the fullest!:)

We didn’t do anything special on Valentine’s Day, just had some KFC dinner!:) Oh, and Vanyo brought a little heart with a sign on it ‘Thank you for being such a great friend’ to one of his best friends from his class /a girl/…:) She was super touched!:)

On February 16th Minnie attended a costume party, organized by her school. The theme was ‘Undercover’ and she had decided to be Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter saga…:) She told me she had had a lot of fun!:)

I’ve seen only two movies so far this month – ‘Bridesmaids’ /witty, charming, touching and very, very funny:)/ and ‘Skyfall’ /I'm not much of a James Bond fan, but this movie was really good...:)/.

I’ve made some more progress in reading this month and finished ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ by Helen Fielding. It turned out to be a very witty and funny book – a super easy read!:) The book I started reading next is ‘A Clash of Kings’ by George R. R. Martin. I hope I’ll enjoy it as much as ‘Game of Thrones’.:)

Vanyo's name day and some other news...:)

January 7th was not only the children's first day at school after the Christmas holidays, but it was also Vanyo's name day, so he brought two boxes of chocolates as a treat for his classmates and teachers...:) We had a small celebration in the evening and a bigger one during the weekend /we were invited to my parents' home that Sunday as my dad celebrates his name day on January 7th too:)/. And of course, Vanyo got some presents - a new game for his PSP from his dad, his sister and me and some money from his grandparents...:)

Other than Vanyo's name day, January has been a rather quiet month so far. Of course, we saw some movies - 'Deadfall' /nothing special:(/, 'Brave' /great entertainment for the whole family:)/, 'Bachelorette' /there were some funny moments, but the movie as a whole was nothing special...:(/ and 'The Adjustment Bureau' /not too bad, but not as good as I expected either... I was hoping for more excitement but the story was going rather slow most of the time...:(/

We also finished watching 'World Without End' TV show... Maybe it was not as good as 'Pillars of the Earth' but it was still very interesting...:)

January turned out to be a good month for reading too...:) The children and I finished 'The Starlight Barking' by Dodie Smith. It was an OK read, but not as interesting nor funny as my favourite children books...:) The kids have the same opinion as me!:) As Vanyo pointed out 'It started promising, but became a bit dull as the story continued...' The book we started reading next is 'The Black Arrow' by Robert Louis Stevenson...:)

I finished reading 'Game of Thrones' by George R. R. Martin. It proved to be a wonderful book - interesting, wise, touching, exciting...:) It revealed a whole new world in front of me and made me feel like a part of it...:) I'm sure I'll enjoy the other books of the series too!:) The book I started reading next is 'Bridget Jones' Diary' by Helen Fielding.

Minnie's 16th birthday, our Christmas holidays and some other news...:)

By the end of November I made it to see one more movie -  'Looper' /such a disappointment...:(/.

On November 22nd /Thursday/ I got my histology results and they proved that I don't have any cancer just as I hoped, such a relief!:)))

December was a very nice and eventful month, full of celebrations!:) First, on December 8th /Saturday/ hubby and I attended a University reunion and we had such a wonderful time there!:) It was great to catch up with our colleagues, it was ages since we have last seen some of them /at our graduation back in 1998/...;)

Then, on December 10th /Monday/ I met a Turkish girl I used to correspond with in the past /now we're in touch only on Facebook/.... Her name is Sibel and she is just as sweet as she seemed in her letters!:) Sibel had come to Sofia together with her aunt and cousins, so I got the chance to meet them too and we spent a really nice time togehter...:) Hopefully we'll meet again in the near future!:)))

The next day /December 11th/ was Minnie's 16th birthday...:) Yes, 16th, time definitely flies...:) Unfortunately I had to attend a parent-teacher meeting at Minnie's school that evening /and as always all techers were very pleased with my daughter:)/, so we didn't have a big celebration then... Minnie celebrated with her friends on the Friday evening /December 14th/, at a bar, called 'Long John' and told me that they've had a great time there!:)

Of course, Minnie received some presents for her birthday...:) This year she got money from my parents, my in-laws, my sister's family and from her dad, her brother and me /which was mostly spent for new clothes and shoes:)/...:) And she got some really thoughful and sweet gifts from her friends...:)

Vanyo attended two birthday parties in December - the first one was on Sunday, December 16th /one of his classmates/ and the second one was on Saturday, December 22nd /his girlfriend Ivayla from Plovdiv/.:) Needless to say, my son has had lots of fun on both!:)))

On December 20th /Thursday/ hubby, Vanyo and I attended the annual 'Saturnalia' performance, organized by Minnie's school...:) Students imitate their teachers and make fun of them... The 'Saturnalia' is organized by the 10th graders, so my daughter was one of the actors this year...:) And she did great!:))) She was so happy and excited after the performance!:))) We allowed her to spend that night at one of her friends' home along with the other girls, so that had been lots of fun too!:)))

After hubby and I finished work on December 21st /Friday/, the four of us drove to Plovdiv for our Christmas holidays...:)

As always, we had a wonderful time, mostly staying at home and relaxing, but we also made it to visit our parents and meet some friends...:)

We celebrated Christmas Eve in Karlovo with my in-laws.:) We had traditional dinner /and once again Vanyo was the lucky person who found the coin in his piece of the 'pitka':)/ and then the children found their presents under the Christmas tree...:) This year we have decided that they'll get only gift, but an expensive one...:) Vanyo got PSP and Minnie - Sony player...:) These were exactly the gifts the children wanted, so they were both super happy and excited!:) Vanyo got a Lego set from his sister too, so he really felt spoilt!:)))

We went home to Plovdiv the following day, but took Teddy /the puppy/ with us too...:) She was so happy to spend the holidays with us!:)))

On December 27th /Thursday/ we visited my parents for lunch and had a wonderful time there as well...:)

We welcomed the New Year at home, with lots of music, dances, laughter and yummy food as always!:) The fortunes we got from the New Year's banitza, were, as follows: 'a new car' for hubby, 'studies' for me, 'health' for Minnie and 'good luck' for Vanyo /who was super disappointed that he didn't get 'love' this time...:)/.

During the Christmas holidays the children and I finished reading 'The Flying Classroom' by Erich Kastner...:) I've read this book as a child but it was such a pleasure to re-discover it with my children!:) Such a beautiful, touching, hearth-warming story!:))) The perfect Christmas read!:))) The book we started reading next is 'The Starlight Barking' by Dodie Smith...:)

We saw only two movies in December - 'The Bourne Legacy' /the worst Bourne movie so far...:(/ and 'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' /such a sweet and touching story, I loved it!:)/.

Minnie and Vanyo are still on holidays /until January 7th/, but hubby and I had to get back to work today, so yesterday evening we drove to Karlovo to leave the children and the puppy with my in-laws and then continued to Sofia... As soon as we finish work on Friday, we'll pick the children up and will enjoy another great weekend with them at home, in Plovdiv!:)
