Vanyo's name day was on January 7th /Wednesday/. Unfortunately it happened on a week day, so Minnie and Vlado were in Sofia and the four of us couldn't celebrate together on the exact date...:( Still, Vanyo and I were invited to a special lunch at my parents' home as my dad celebrated his name day then too...:) And Vanyo brought two boxes of chocolates to school as a treat for his classmates and teachers...:) Of course, when my daughter, husband and our dog came home for the weekend, we continued the celebrations for Vanyo's birthday...:) He got some presents too - a new game for his PSP from his sister, his dad and me and some money from his grandparents /which would most likely be spent for PSP games as well:)/...
The other January piece of news is also connected with Vanyo. He was invited to join the famous and very prestigious 'Choir of the Plovdiv Boys'... The invitation was very flattering and attractive but given the fact that Vanyo is very busy with his studies and swimming lessons, we decided against it... Both my husband and I have always wanted our children to enjoy their childhood to the fullest instead of being preoccupied with too many activities...:) I hope we've made the right decision...:)
Other than that January was a rather quiet and uneventful month... And perfect for movie watching!:) Here is what I saw since my last post: 'Endless Love' /nothing special, but OK to watch if you're in the mood for romantic movies...:)/, 'Movie 43' /such a disappointment...:( Some of my most favourite actors were playing, but the movie was too weird, silly and pervert for my liking...:(/, 'Main Street' /such a slow, boring movie... And even though the actors were all great, I just couldn't force myself to care about the characters...:(/, 'Machine Gun Preacher' /leaving aside the fact that seeing Gerard Butler always gives me joy /and not only for his looks, but for his great acting as well;)/, the movie was very good and touching, but also very sad and depressing../, 'The Son of No One' /the story was good, but the movie was slow, boring and depressing...:( And I don't like Channing Tatum with moustaches...:(/, 'Argo' /I'm not surprised that this movie has won the Oscar. The story is good, all actors played well, the pace wasn't too slow... Still, it seemed a bit too long for my liking and it didn't touch me... But maybe it's just because I'm not into political dramas much... Luckily Ben Affleck was there all the time and it's always a pleasure watching him...:)/, 'Warrior' /I just *loved* this movie! :) It was deep, emotional, touching and sincere... Just as good as 'Rocky' or 'Million Dollar Baby'... I loved all the characters with all their faults, mistakes and imperfections... And I felt them so close as if I've known them in real life...:) Plus, Tom Hardy is amazing - not only he looks great, but he is a wonderful actor as well!:)/, 'A Dangerous Method' /the actors were all great, especially Keira Knightley ... But the movie somehow couldn't grab me as much as I hoped.../, 'Man on a Ledge' /OK to watch for some entertainment but nothing special.../, 'One Day' /it started well, then became boring and the end was simply confusing and disappointing.../, 'Catch.44' /a total waste of time...:(/, 'Rampart' /such a disappointment...:(/, 'Trespass' /very silly...:(/, 'Definitely, Maybe' /a very sweet movie...:)/, 'Hope Springs' /even though I love Meryl Streep, the movie was nothing special to me.../ and 'What's Your Number' /a very sweet and funny movie, I loved it!:)/
Also in January I saw the newest, 5th season of 'Downton Abbey'. I greatly enjoyed it as always and now I'm looking forward to season 6...:)
